When practicing any strike, there are 4 important aspects that are needed:
Guidelines to proper strike 1: The initial or starting stance, this is the stance before doing the strike. This stance is the opposite of your final stance. Initial stance gives you power and momentum in delivering your strikes.
Guidelines to proper strike 2: The direction of the strike, move and shift your body to your right if your target is the left area of the opponent. Move and shift your body to your left if your target is the right area of the opponent
Guidelines to proper strike 3: The final stance, as a general rule, your right foot should be in front when going to your right, your left foot should be in front when going to the left. This technique is called “Right-to-Right” and “Left-to-Left” respectively.
Guidelines to proper strike 4: The target and delivery of the strike. This is the kind of strike that will be delivered. Examples are diagonal strikes, circular strikes, and fan strikes.
These 4 aspects are only guidelines to have proper form, body coordination, momentum and power to your strikes. Specific scenarios could have specific stances as well as direction and delivery of strikes.
Follow the natural flow of your arms, wrist and shoulders to develop speed, accuracy and power when delivering your strikes, this is known as “the path of least resistance”
