Eskrima Block Technique - Eskudo

Eskudo is an Arnis blocking technique which means “Shield” in Spanish, is a commonly used Arnis block especially at mid-range.  Eskudo block does not follow-thru in comparison to Intercept blocks and Parrying Blocks, which makes it very suitable as a mid-range and close quarter blocking technique.

Due to the range on which it is deployed, this block can be conversely done together with parrying techniques, checking techniques, controls and other live hand manipulation techniques as well as disarms, locking and throwing techniques.

Eskudo block are commonly followed with a Witik, Abaniko, Punyo (Butting) and Thrust counter strikes and other mid-range striking techniques.
